Things to Do

Beaches

Butterfly Beach, which is right in front of the Four Seasons, is one of our favorite beaches. Leadbetter Beach is on the other side of the Santa Barbara Harbor and is reached by driving west on Cabrillo until it turns into Shoreline Drive. Afterwards stop by the Lazy Acres Market for an amazing almond smoothie.

Biking

Rent a beach cruiser and go for a beautiful ride down the coastal pathway or into downtown Santa Barbara. Wheel Fun Rentals at 101 State St. (just off Cabrillo Blvd.; tel. 805/966-2282;www.wheelfunrentals.com), rents bikes and surreys, a four wheel bike that seats 3 people. The bike path is also great for rollerblading.

Hiking

Cold Spring Trail in Montecito is a wonderful hike through little creeks and pools. It is a moderately easy (three miles, round trip) hike to Montecito Overlook. To find the trailhead, exit Highway 101 at Hot Springs Road and drive 2.5 miles to Mountain Drive. Turn left and drive 1.2 miles, stopping where the creek runs over the pavement. Park where space is available, observing the “No Parking” signs.

Wine Tasting
Santa Barbara wine country is about 30 to 50 minutes from downtown.
